It took more than half a decade, but Hoka finally got the Clifton upper right. We hope that Hoka doesn’t introduce ‘changes’ to the Clifton 8 unless they’re quantifiable improvements to the ride and fit character. At the time of writing this review, the Clifton 7 is one of the best maximal cushioning shoes money can buy.

Hoka Bondi X Review. I used the Hoka Rincon as my everyday shoe for a few years but I always felt that I would benefit from an even more cushioned shoe for my long runs over 10 miles. Hoka is widely rated as the company for super cushioning and Bondi is the most cushioned of all. The novelty of the addition of carbon sole technology meant I

11K5AR. The fifth-generation Hoka One One Clifton 5 arrived in retail stores a few months ago, and the fourth-generation Clifton 4 is being phased out (REI clearance here). It is available in two versions: Clifton 5 ($130, 9.4 oz) Clifton 5 Knit ($135, 9.2 oz) I was sent the standard Clifton 5 for review. Both styles are available in wide sizing.
Comparisons – Hoka Speedgoat 5 vs.: Hoka Speedgoat 4. The Hoka Speedgoat 4 is from 2019 and weighs about 15 g/0.5 oz more. The stack height is similar, but the underfoot feel is firmer. The (less flexible) upper uses more overlays – time will tell if the Hoka Speedgoat 5 is sturdy. The foot lockdown is also tighter on the SG4.
Reviewers note unhelpful communication with Hoka One One customer service. The sizing is inconsistent with Bondi 5. Some reviewers say the tongue slips to the side while walking or running. The label on the tongue can rub excessively on the ankle. The laces are brightly colored, and the eyelets are not designed for traditional laces.
This shoe is big. Very, very big. And not just in the vertical stack, the Bondi 7 platform is wider than virtually any road shoe on the market today. But for all of that bulk, they only tip the scales a little more than most of the other brands' big daily trainers. Length wise, they are spot on true-to-size.
The Hoka Bondi 8’s are 5 dollars more than previous models including the Hoka Bondi 7, coming in at $165. You can nab the Bondi 7 for about $127 now. The Bondi 8 is a lot of shoe, offering a maximum cushioned and smooth ride with better durability than the Bondi 7, making it worth the price of $165—which is more expensive than other brand
